Disposable Camera Scavenger Hunt

Today's Blog has been contributed by Debra Harris of
Visions Event Planning.
For a recent wedding, my bride purchased disposable cameras for her guests to take pictures. I love the idea and went online to find a way to encourage guests to take pictures. I found a camera scavenger hunt game. This is a great way to get your guests involved. The online bride made tags for the cameras which contained the instructions needed by guests and to ensure the photos taken would be fantastic. The tag read:
I’m your camera so scavenge around and hunt for these pictures that need to be found.

Seven Reception Ideas from Visions by Debra

Idea One: In my research for new ideas I have run across several seating and place card ideas using fruit as the holders. I like the use of fruit because it is an earth friendly alternative. The pomegranate holder is a good example. Check out www.marthastewartweddings.com for over 43 additional ideas and directions of how to complete some of the more unusual offerings.
Are you looking for something to keep your guests entertained during the transition from your ceremony to reception? Here are a few ideas:
Idea Two-Use puzzles as your centerpieces. The puzzles can be couple pictures of you and your groom or childhood pictures of either of you. Have a variety and mix them up around the room. The guests work together to put the pieces together. This would be a great ice breaker for your guests.

Idea Three: Couple trivia, who knows you best? The guests work together to answer the questions given by your DJ or MC or you can have a printed list on each table. The prize for the winner? The first table through the buffet line!

Idea Four: If you love scrap-booking try this: All you need is a Polaroid camera, scrapbook pages and pens. As your guests enter the reception site have a trusted friend take instant pictures. Write the guests names on the bottom of the photo and have them place the photos on scrapbook pages with their wish for your marriage.

Idea Five: A photo booth is always a wonderful addition to any wedding. For booth rental information contact Snap Happy, LLC at 615.755.0246.

Idea Six: A recent photographer included a backdrop at the reception so that the guests could have their pictures taken.

Idea Seven: The marriage jar. Have a supply of cards about the size of a place card and a container in which to hold them. Each guest upon entering the reception site will write their tips for a successful marriage.

To execute these ideas or for many more, contact Debra at Visions Event Planning.

Petal Aisle Runners - Part II

On June 12th we posted an entry about flower petal aisle runners. I was only aware of one source for them and asked for info about any others out there. I received the following information from PetalHappy.com as another source for you to consider.

"Petal Happy sells hand made pre-petalled aisle runners (petal carpets) as well as table runners and table covers that instantaneously add glamor and drama to any wedding decor.

Each high quality, life-like petal is made of micropeach polyester fabric, and is attached giving the bride/groom the option of pre-setting the runners or rolling out right before the bride enters. This is also a great option for wedding venues that do not allow real petals, and as the petals are faux - they will not stain or rub off.

Standard aisle runners come in 42" width and lengths of 25', 50', 75' and 100' in up to three colors.

Customized aisle runners can be ordered in any width and any length. PetalHappy.com can create almost anything a bride/groom can conjure up, including special designs, shapes, color combinations, trims, etc."

Enhance your wedding cake

Today's Blog was provided by Debra Harris of Visions Event Planning.

Your wedding day should reflect your individuality. Cutting your cake is one of the highlights of your reception, why not share the fun?! Have your cake baker insert charms in your wedding cake. (They will be attached to ribbons that stick out of your cake.) Gather the female members of your wedding party and on the count of three each pulls out a charm. Each charm contains your wish for the recipient. Here are some suggestions.
Lucky in life
Next to be engaged
Happy home
Life of beauty
Travel and Adventure
Blessed with children
Wealth and prosperity
Your wedding party will always remember your thoughtfulness and so will your guests.
You can find charms at WeddingCakeCharms or ExclusivelyWeddings or by contacting Debra. This is one of the many ideas and details she can add to your wedding day plans.

Enhance your break-away bouquet

Today's Blog was been submitted by Debra Harris of Visions Event Planning.
"This idea was a hit at a recent wedding. If you're looking for an alternative to the traditional bouquet toss try this enhanced break away bouquet. Make several mini bundles of flowers, hand tie the stems and attach a charm to each bundle. Each bouquet will contain a charm and each charm contains a wish for the recipient. Gather the mini bundles and tie a wide ribbon around the group. Important: do not knot the ribbon. When you throw the bouquet hold onto one end of the ribbon and the mini bundles will be set free.
If charms are not in your budget consider using ribbons. Create a message on ribbons and attach to each mini bundle. Here are a few suggestions on how they should read.
You will marry your best friend.
You will marry your soul mate.
You will marry your high school sweetheart.
You will marry the man of your dreams.
You will marry a millionaire.
You will marry a sensitive man.
The man that you marry will be tall, dark and handsome.
Charms are available through Visions. Visit our web site at www.visionsbydebra.com for the latest wedding accessories from Carlson Crafts."
And check back frequently - Debra will be giving away a set of charms to one of our bride readers.
